Game Review
FC Augsburg secured a solid 2-0 victory over 1. FC Köln in their Bundesliga clash on Friday, 27 February 2026. The result was a testament to Augsburg's effective game plan and execution, as they capitalized on key moments to claim all three points. This win was not entirely unexpected, given Augsburg's recent form and home advantage. The match saw Augsburg take the lead in the 55th minute through Rodrigo Duarte Ribeiro, who found the back of the net with a well-timed finish. The home side continued to press and sealed the victory in the 90th minute when Alexis Claude-Maurice (GAP +1.8%) scored, confirming their dominance in the encounter. Augsburg's lineup featured several key performances, particularly from their goal-scorers. Rodrigo Duarte Ribeiro's goal was crucial in setting the tone for the second half, while Alexis Claude-Maurice's late strike ensured there was no way back for Köln. In terms of tactical adjustments, Augsburg's manager made five substitutions, bringing on players like Elvis Rexhbeçaj and Yannik Keitel to maintain the team's intensity and defensive solidity. For 1. FC Köln, the match was a struggle to break down a well-organized Augsburg defense. Despite efforts from players like Luca Waldschmidt (GAP -3.7%) and Eric Martel (GAP -1.1%), Köln could not find a way past Augsburg's backline. Köln's head coach opted for two changes during the match, introducing Said El Mala and Ísak Bergmann Jóhannesson in an attempt to inject fresh energy into the team. This result leaves Augsburg in a favorable position as they continue to climb the Bundesliga table, building momentum with this victory. For Köln, the defeat is a setback as they look to improve their standing and avoid slipping further down the league. The focus for both teams will now shift to their upcoming fixtures, where Augsburg will aim to extend their winning run, while Köln will seek to bounce back and regain form.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
